No-Jet-Lag

You would think any normal person will likely experience jet lag to a certain extent, if he / she travels from one side of the globe to the other side. 13 hours time difference means your biological system is probably messed up for at least 5 days.

But guess what? It didn’t happen to me this time. I arrived in Toronto late Monday evening and left for work at 7am the next day with a full battery of energy.

How do I do it? Here you go my secret jet lag cure ( you are welcome ๐Ÿ˜ƒ).

# Love What You Do. I don’t want to sound cliche, but I do get quite excited about going to work everyday when I wake up. Life is a lot easier if your job is your passion. I choose to work in the healthcare industry for the past 17 years because it never fails to give me a sense of purpose. It’s a privilege to be able to work in a field that serves people that are in need.

# Meet with People. Setting up various meetings is a good way to keep you awake during the daytime. It makes your day go fast. When you have intellectual conversations with your colleagues, customers and partners, chance is less for you to feel asleep. Try your best not to work on your emails at your desk the very next day because you will feel dragged and tired.

# Espressos double shots. Yes you do need caffeine. Cold lemon water helps you to be hydrated but it won’t help to cheer you up.

# Follow your routine. If your normal sleeping hours are from 11pm to 6am, then follow that after you come back from a big trip. I know it’s hard to sleep when your stomach is craving for a plate of dumplings because it’s lunch time in Beijing.

Jet lag is the unwanted gift that travel brings to the party. The above listed are my strategies to beat jet lag. How about you? Any more techniques that you can share with the community? If so, leave a comment below. ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ™
