It’s Friday night. I should have just had a Martini and call it a day after a long work week, but I felt deeply annoyed and disturbed. There are so many cases of sexual harassment and racist and discrimination that are happening around the world. Concerning? Yes, indeed and deeply.
I briefly looked though the news section on my phone and here you go one more piece in the already darkened situation: a Canadian musician among several other women is accusing a world-renown Swiss conductor for harassment.
It’s 2018 for god sake and how come all these non-sense, unethical and illegal behaviours are still happening?
Time’s up! It has to be, and it has to be NOW!
When Oprah Winfrey claimed that “a new day is on the horizon!” at the Golden Globes award ceremony, the whole world was giving her a standing ovation. What a splendid and remarkable statement that was!
While the hashtag #metoo creates a movement to encourage women to speak up, speak loudly and fight back for their equality, dignity and rights, the #TimesUp campaign is really about sending out a strong call-for-action message and telling the world:
– Time is up for silence;
– Time is up for abuse;
– Time is up for racist;
– Time is up for discrimination;
– Time is up for harassment;
– Time is up for disrespect;
– Time is up for humiliation.
As Winfrey said :”when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say “me too” again.”
Enough is enough! It’s time to make this world a beautiful place to be in.
